HOVIAT – Women’s Identity conducted an eight‑week online educational program titled “Write Your Voice.” The program brought together 20 Afghan women from Afghanistan and Canada to explore storytelling techniques and develop their personal narratives.

During the first four weeks, participants attended weekly two‑hour sessions focused on narrative structure, storytelling methods, and writing personal life stories. In the following weeks, participants worked on drafting their own stories, reading them aloud during class, and receiving feedback, guidance, and editorial support from the instructor.

In the final phase of the program, selected stories were prepared for publication with the full consent of the authors. At the conclusion of the program, 10 stories were officially submitted to HOVIAT – Women’s Identity to be used in advocacy initiatives and published through the organization’s platforms.

Participants described the program as a meaningful and transformative experience. One participant under the pseudonym “A” said:
“When I was writing my life story, I cried. I released years of hidden pain and felt relief and peace.”

Another participant from Kabul, under the pseudonym “B,” stated:
“Writing my life story helped me set goals for my future. I never thought writing could be this powerful, but now I plan to turn my story into a book.”

The program created a safe space for women to express their personal narratives, reclaim their silenced voices, and transform their lived experiences into tools for advocacy and social change.
