Program Overvie

The program began with opening remarks from the organization’s coordinator in Afghanistan, followed by a comprehensive presentation by Dr. Farzana Rahimi on psychological trauma.

The session covered the following key areas:

  • Definition and types of psychological trauma (acute, chronic, developmental, and hidden trauma)
  • Major causes of trauma among Afghan women, including war, domestic violence, social and legal restrictions, poverty, and forced marriage
  • Psychological and social consequences of untreated trauma
  • Basic coping and support methods such as counseling, support groups, and relaxation activities
  • Barriers to accessing mental health services in society

In the practical section, a deep breathing exercise was conducted to help participants experience relaxation techniques. An open discussion followed, allowing participants to share personal experiences and receive professional feedback from the speaker.

Feedback and Outcomes

The session continued with an interactive Q&A and experience sharing. The discussion environment was supportive and informative, and participants emphasized the importance of continuing such programs for psychological and social support.

Conclusion

This session represented an important step toward raising awareness about mental health, reducing stigma, and strengthening peer support among women.
